It is with both sadness and honor that we mourn the loss of retired Pembroke Pines Police Officer, Michael Hones, who dedicated his life to animal rescue.  Mikey was always the first to help if an animal was in need of assistance.  He was 'Pooches in Pines' long before we came to be and guided many of us on this path.  Even after his retirement, Mikey made himself available to help when he could on animal calls for service in the City of Pembroke Pines (and elsewhere).  We are proud to call Mikey our friend and know that he's looking down upon us from the other side of the rainbow bridge, now reunited with some of the animal souls he was able to touch.  Rest peacefully Mikey, we look forward to meeting you once again someday and are honored to say we knew you in this life.
